Shri Bankey Bihari

Vrindavan, just 15 km from Mathura, is a major place of pilgrimage . It is noted for its numerous temples - both old and modern. The name Vrindavan evokes the playfulness and lovable characteristics of Shri Krishna. This is the wood where he frolicked with the gopis and tenderly wooed Radha.

The Banke-Bihari Temple is the most popular shrine at Vrindavan. This temple was constructed in 1864 with the contribution of Goswamis. After constructing of temple, Goswamis transferred the idol to the temple.Banke means “bent in three places” and bihari means “supreme enjoyer.” Lord Krishna will be standing in the Tribhanga posture.

Haridas Swami originally worshipped this Deity under the name of Kunji-bihari. The image of Banke-Bihari was discovered in Nidhi Vana by Swami Haridas, the great Krishna devotee, belonging to the Nimbarka sect.Initially the deity was installed in a temple close to the first appearance in Nidhivan. A new temple befitting the glory of Bihariji was constructed in 1862 AD. Goswamis themselves mobilized resources for the construction. The temple is an architectural beauty in itself and follows the contemporary Rajasthani style.

The sewa of the Bihariji is unique in its own way. It is performed in three parts every day ie Shringar, Rajbhog and Shayan. While shringar (which includes bath, dressing and adornment with jewellery like crown and necklaces) and Rajbhog(feast) is offered in the forenoon, Shayan Sewa (shayan means sleep) is offered in the evening. The temple doesn’t have a tradition of Mangala (early morning) sewa. The curtain before the Deities is not left open like at other temples. Every few minutes the curtain is pulled shut and then opened again. It is said that the brilliant eyes of Banke Bihari will make you unconscious if seen for too long a stretch. Swami Haridas did not favour Mangla Sewa as he wanted his child like Lord to take complete rest and did not want to disturb him out of deep slumber so early in the morning. It is the only temple where loud temple bells are not used to wake Krishna in the morning.

नवरात्रि...

Navratri or Naurata is the first day for festivities after a fifteen days ritual for forefathers popularly known as pitra paksh or shraadh .Navratri is celebrated in a large number of Indian communities. The mother goddess is said to appear in 9 forms, and each one is worshipped for a day. Hindu's all over celebrate it with fasting dancing and other rituals.festival of Navratri begins on the first day of Ashwina of the bright fortnight.Navratri was linked with the fertility of Earth which fed us as her youngsters.

Seeds are sown, sprouting is watched, the planets are consecrated. This period is a time for self-referral and getting back to the Source. During this time of transformation, nature sheds the old and gets rejuvenated; animals hibernate and life emerges back afresh in the spring.a pot is installed (ghatasthapana) at a sanctified place at home. A lamp is kept lit in the pot for nine days. The pot symbolizes the universe. The uninterrupted lit lamp is the medium through which we worship the effulgent Adishakti.

Kali is the most horrific manifestation of Nature. Nature symbolizes beauty, yet it has a horrific form. Acknowledging the duality brings a total acceptance in the mind and puts the mind at ease.
Though Navratri is celebrated as the victory of good over evil
Kids and older people gown up in new vivid-coloured attire for the evening performances. In some communities, men and women undergo rigorous fasts throughout this period that for the nine days of Navratri. The festival ends on Maha Navami. On this day the Kanya Puja is executed.

Garba, where all the families join to play dandiya and Garba Rass.  women adorn themselves with jhumkas, necklaces, bindi, bajubandh, chudas and kangans, kamarbandh, payal, and mojiris. Boys and men wear kafni pyjamas with a kediyu - a short round kurta - above the knees and pagadi on the head with bandhini dupatta, kada, and mojiris. The dance symbolizes that God, represented in feminine form in this case, is the only thing that remains unchanging in a constantly changing universe.

Navratri is all about celebrations and happiness for everyone .

In search of his roots

In my hospitality work I come to meet different type of people and today ,from nowhere I came to meet a tourist who was right from England with two of his female friends he came with my uncle who is by virtue of his laid down attitude,is a travel escort.

David ;the tourist hopped from Mumbai and was on his way to Jodhpur, was in search of his roots .According to our small conversation I came to know that his grandfather was an engineer and used to work for a company which laid down some bridges for the Indian railways way back in early 19th century this company is still based in India but had changed ownership twice.David's grandparents and his two aunts were last heard to be in India according to her mother .While David's father was also in India and from here he went and participated in the second world war and never came back.

David also had another lead for his aunt who was seen by her mother at an England hotel with an Indian royal prince who was said to be there to trade for some horses for Polo and his name was Hanuwant Singh who was associated with Jodhpur royal family.

Sipping his lemon tea David told about him that he was a tax lawyer back there in his country. He loved India and Indian people as they were very helpful and understanding .He was being told  about Hanuwant Singh Ji being a womanizer and a movie "Zubaida "made on them and other facts about him .And also assisted him to a person close to the royals of the Jodhpur .

David only want to get to know where his grandparents were buried and want to pay tribute to them for that he is ready to come again and again and he knows its a very tough job.Still the urge of finding one's root is too great .I hope he get success in knowing his family roots .

Giving a second chance

How many chances should we give to anyone !Forgiving once should be a habit but shall we

give anyone a second chance in this world knowing their shabby desires to ruin ourselves.

Is life an adventure or a meaningless exercise shall we take responsibility or blame others ?

Shall we access or ignore inner healing potentials ?Shall we find ways to express our emotions

or hold back and give up ? by answering these we either find hope or despair .

For a couple relations, If You’re married, I would always suggest trying to make it work no matter

what, but if you are not married, especially with no children between the two of you, then it’s up

to you whether or not YOU are willing to accept the situation and go forward with your ex in

working through your differences from there. When we break up, we break up for a reason.

Unless the reason no longer exists, you will find yourself revisiting the very issues that caused

you to break up once the cosy, rosy glow has worn off.

Now whatever those reasons are, when you consider whether you should give them another
chance, he needs to understand what the issues were and what caused the pain in your relationship. If someone doesn’t understand what they contributed to the pain, what is to stop them from repeating the same actions and putting you in the front line of pain again?Once you’ve already broken up, if you get back together for the wrong reasons, you can then end up being scared about questioning or discussing things, or creating ‘conflict’ for fear of breaking up again.

The Minority Files

I am neither a Muslim nor a Dalit.I am not a women . I dont even belong to the northeast of India . The closest I felt like a minority was when I used to work in a hotel at Hyderabad .Still that was minor the discrimination between north and south !

Any attempt to give any advice to minority is audacious thing to do, none of us majority members are fully qualified to comment on there status. However decades pass and the minority remains as oppressed as ever.Of all the minorities Muslim citizens are wooed the most. Also as a community they are face significant oppression.Appeal to an injustice and one can bring them together to get a nice block of vote.
Indian Muslims were traditionally Congress voters until the mid-1970s.However, they got a rude shock during the Emergency. In Delhi, near Turkman gate, bulldozers demolished Muslim houses under the direct supervision of Sanjay Gandhi, and people, including children, were crushed to death.

Muslims then shifted their loyalty to the Janata Party — which included the Jan Sangh — which took an oath of secularism and Gandhian socialism. But the Babri blow was huge .But since Muslim party heads had mishandled the Babri Masjid issue, Muslims lost faith in their leaders who, after the demolition, lost much of their influence. The Muslims saw in Lalu Prasad Yadav a new Messiah, as he prevented riots in Bihar for 15 years. In UP, they reposed faith in Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mayawati.

But they lost faith in Mayawati when she joined hands with the BJP. Lalu Prasad hardly delivered on the economic front and hence in the last assembly elections Muslims supported Nitish Kumar. They were equally disappointed with Mulayam Singh anddefeated him in the last 2007 elections.
Well however,my dear minority brothers and sisters ,you have been had enough time has shown they will only take you for granted .One should keep their vote floating and in the end vote for the better party.India will have to be open minded if they want to bring a change and make the nation great.

The conversion politics and Hindu

Indians were referred to as "Hindus" in ancient times and the two terms were fairly synonymous. However, large parts of the country passed under Islamic rule and under Portuguese, French, Dutch and British rule. Millions of Hindus were converted to Islam and Christianity, by 1947 approximately 25% and 1.5% of the population of the Indian Subcontinent had converted to Islam and Christianity respectively. While Hindus converted to other religions, they themselves refused to accept any converts. Thus, most indigenous Muslims and Christians are descended from Hindu and Buddhist Indian ancestors.

The social structure of the Hindu society put some communities/castes at a severe disadvantage in all matters. Islam and Christianity offered these communities social equality and so several Low Caste Hindus and tribals left their ancestral beliefs. The invading Muslims also offered a choice between Islam and death to the inhabitants of Hindu areas. The stories of cruelty and barbarianism of Islamic rulers are folklore among the Hindu masses of India. Similarly, in the Portuguese ruled part of Goa, Catholicism was often forced upon the Hindus and Muslims there. It is estimated that the 8 century long Islamic rule witnessed the massacre of 80 million Hindus. This is the root cause of the on-going Hindu-Muslim fued in South Asia.

Hindus were not allowed to marry Muslim women unless they converted to Islam while Muslims could easily marry Hindu women. Emperor Jehangir(1605-1628 C.E.) ordered approx. 400 Hindu families of Northwest Punjab to convert to Islam since their men had married Muslim women. Those Hindus, who interacted with Muslims or Christians, were often excommunicated. For instance, the court musicians of Mughal Emperor Muhammad Shah ‘Rangila’, who were Brahmins, faced great ostracism from Hindus and were forced to convert to Islam. Their descendants are the famous Dhrupad singers- Dagar brothers. Similary, an entire community of Hindus were declared outcastes by neighbouring Hindus in Vasai (Thane district of Maharasthra) after they accidently drank water from wells that had been polluted by pieces of bread that had been thrown into them intentionally by the Portuguese. Hindus also stopped admitting non-Hindus into Hinduism and even to this day many Hindus oppose the idea of converting non-Hindus to Hinduism. Thus, conversion was a one way traffic from Hinduism to other faiths.

Should we believe in this Belief ?

What do Hindus believe about the gods?

The earliest Hindu texts are the four Vedas, the Rig Veda being the oldest (1200BC),containing 1028 hymns with more about myths than full stories .By the time that the Mahabharata was written (300 BC - 300 AD), other gods who played only minor roles in the Vedas have become popular. Three gods in particular came to be known as the Trimurti: Brahma the creator, Vishnu the preserver, and Shiva the destroyer. Their fame grew during the Middle Ages when "stories of old" called the Puranas recorded their achievements and adventures.

Hindu religion is more philosophy than doctrine. There is no authoritative hierarchy of clergy; the religion is highly decentralized with multiple sects. So the practical defination of Hinduism can be performing the duty (Dharma) of one's stage in life and social status (caste).

The Hindu vision of reality lies in the tension between dharma (social duty or righteousness) and moksha (release from the material world and cycles of rebirth),depending upon Karma :the moral law of causes and effects (deeds of past ) and the rebirth according to karma.

Maybe for us in his last words to Yudhishthira, Bhishma said that in the kaliyuga (our present age), "dharma becomes adharma and adharma, dharma." Somewhat paradoxically, he continues, "If one fights against trickery, one should oppose him with trickery. But if one fights lawfully, one should check him with dharma ... One should conquer evil with good. Death by dharma is better than victory by evil deeds."

Are you lonely or alone ?

I would like to learn why is there such mortal fear of being alone?

Being lonely, abandoned, unloved and even rejected by the world at large it is not exactly pretty to explain that ‘alone is not lonely’ but a rather blessed state. Friends and relatives have asked us about our perception of  loneliness and, we would agree that even if we are alone and single, we can enjoy our solitary pursuits without feeling lonely and sad .

You need to get out of yourself and into others. The cure for loneliness is to stop focusing on us and our feelings. Stop feeling sorry for ourself and find a needy person or project and get out there and do something for someone. we will no longer feel lonely.Give our life to the Lord and follow his commands and we should be much happier. We were created to serve and worship God. When we stray from this, all type evils, move in on us and we suffer, needlessly. You have built a self made prison around yourself. Not easy to deal with alone.

we are alone and we are able to regain our scattered energies, withdraw them from objects of anxieties and become centered enough to get in touch with our inner selves. The more we look at external supports to pull us out of the misery of loneliness, the deeper we get into it. When we are surrounded by solitude, all external support is abandoned, and we are alone and facing ourselves. We learn to trust our instincts, discover the profound silences of our heart and tune in to our deeper vibrations. Being alone does not necessarily mean that we are lonely and without a companion, in fact, it means we have the ability to do it on our own.

We all have our moments when loneliness find us defenseless and wanting. But when we learn to comprehend the triggers and root causes of loneliness, we ascertain how to handle it effectively. When we are alone and are enjoying it, we shun the wretchedness of feeling lonely and move from living on the surface of life to living a more elevating one.Even if the world deserts us, we are there for ourselves.

Filling Gap

A successful person might be intelligent or have had a socially well connected upbringing. Or be naturally energetic and open and positive. Some people are more successful at almost anything in life .
Right or wrong action, they take it. Either way it’s always better than making no decisions and taking no action at all.A lot of us back down when we don't want to do something, even though it may eventually bring us to a wonderful experience or goal.

Success also require some skills like good communication skills,Openness in thoughts, inner urge these skills are fortunately something everyone can improve and develop.

Due to  internal confusion we usually waste time and spread the multi-tasker too thinly. Instead, we should do one thing at a time and focus on that until it is done. Then we should do the next thing until it is done. Focusing 100% on one task at a time will get it done quicker and better.
Attitude is also one of the key to success a positive one can open new doors everyday .it can open our minds to new ideas and inputs and create or sustain great relationships.

We have to start giving great value to the time by planning it and not wasting it in meaningless or unproductive work. How quickly we achieve success also depends on how fast we figure out what do we want to do and check weather we are doing that or not.

Are WE the problem ?

We don t solve our problems, we outgrow them.   As I 've been thinking about this the past few days, I realize how often my attention is actually on solving my problems, not outgrowing them.

There are times when change ,moving to a new city or a new home, or changing careers is the right thing at the right time. But there are also times when the urge for change is really just a desire to run away from problems that need to be faced rather than avoided.
We also experience this phenomenon whenever something intense happens in our life whether it's something that is intensely good or bad. Major life experiences often put everything in perspective giving us an opportunity to stop and re-evaluate many aspects of our lives. Usually, upon further reflection, we realize that most of our problems are not that big to deal.

A few things we can think about as we look to deepen our growth and shift away from the obsessive problem solving mode many of us find ourselves may be we are not speaking and analyzing the problems with others by telling them that it the biggest problem get support and guidance to solve it .Any pain involved in facing our issues is well worth the effort in the end. When we face our problems instead of avoiding them, we free our energy and transform ourselves from people who run away into people who move enthusiastically forward.

Early to rise.

I've found one of the hardest thing to do is to get up early . There hasn't been a whole lot of motivation to get out of bed in a timely manner. I've quickly learned that getting up is crucial to success as an entrepreneur. And better yet waking up early is really just didn't became a habit. We don't need any skills to do it.We just need to wake up consistently to condition our body to the routine.I know all this but still !
Have you ever tried waking up early? How did it go? But nowadays I love getting up early. Yeah, you heard me… I absolutely love it.Just a week ago i couldn't make up till 8:00 AM but now 2 hours early .It’s so much fun to be up before the sun rise.
Earlier as soon as I heard the alarm or start to wake, I either press snooze or turn off the alarm. Then after what seems like an eternity i get this negative feeling in  gut…either wake up or the guest waiting downstairs at the hotel reception will walk away without paying or shout in early hours . But now,I’ll sit in my bed for a few minutes when I first wake up and think of something positive that feelings good to me. As I sit with that positive feeling for a few minutes I get positive new memories and images floating in my mind.… and when I do, I jump right out of bed because I feel great. And here’s the best part: because I’m influencing the part of my brain that is unconscious, that great feeling , that great vibe carries with me throughout the day.even in the evening it stops me use that bottle and ice.

Knowing the risks is the key.

"Never do I fish as attentively as when I’m on the North Umpqua. I feel I owe the river the very best I have to offer, after all, the river has given its very best to me.  The North Umpqua makes me want to be a better fly fisherman.”
Have you ever felt this way about anything?  just browsing the shelves at library an interesting book title caught my eye: “Being, Nothingness, and Fly Fishing”. Michael the lead took a journey that included dropping everything and moving to the West to fly fish ,fly fishing has been a process of refinement and personal introspection .

I frequently meet people in my hospitality profession ,some of them I think are stuck.  Often, the truth  isn’t that they’re stuck, it’s that they just haven’t found something that demands the very best they have to offer – something that makes them want to be a better person.

Most of them are too busy to think the other way out .The blind race of superiority in whatever we do and how much we want to grab had made the men a machine with little time for the community that's why the community service can also be hired on your behalf !

A small exercise can help us I suppose ,Just wake up with the attitude that no matter what happens throughout the day,you are going to give your life the very best you have to offer! You are going to live your life in a way that makes you want to be a better person.
Be forewarned (get informed of all risks), this new approach could change everything!

The best feeling

Thinking about the best feeling a man can ...or when I felt best is a vague thought .Well our best feeling can be sitting in a plane and flying on the clouds or helping a beggar get his food or even getting hold of a pick pocket at a station .For a person who is in jail may be the best feeling will come when he will be released .

I love it when people read things that I’ve written.  I don’t always know when that’s happening, but I like imagining that it’s happening often.Someone encourage me and I am on the seventh heaven .May be I share the same feeling which a teenager felt when she is in Love with her school mate. But the best of the best feeling probably in my opinion for any man or women is when their baby is born the feeling is indescribable and stunning I can't even do what I thought will when the moment arrived and I can and will never forget that moment in that hospital .

I personally feel that that this best feeling concept is wide some people can get it in even all the small things they do in day to day life whereas someone may never achieve it through out his life. For one of my buddy the greatest things in life are eating ,sleeping, exhausting in bed and taking a great shit.

Laying down on bed after a long day of work for another one .For a mother whose daughter is in bed the best feeling ,besides the sheer euphoria when she laid eyes on the newborn the second they were born ,was when she felt peace ,gratitude and calm for the first time when the doctor said the operation was a success and the cancer is gone.

The Ram Niwas Baikunth Dhaam

Ramsnehi means "People who love LORD Ram" and in a simple way of worshipping God by chanting "ram "they advocate saying राम राम (Raam Raam) as the way of reaching the ultimate.

Ramsnehi Sampradaya is a spiritual and religious tradition originated in "1817 Bikram Samwat" in Bhilwara city of Rajashthan by the disciple of Swami Shri Ram Charan Maharaj. The Shahpura Ramdwara was sponsored by the contemporary King Amar Singh of Shahpura, and his brother Chattra Singh. It was built by constructors named Jarror Khan and Kushal Khan. This is also a great example of the brotherhood of Hindus and Muslims in India. There is a speciality in all used marble stones that each marble stone has a picture and stone mark on it as of Hindi (Devnagari) alphabets of the construction of word "Ram" (Lord Ram), bow, saint, India's map, sword, lion, monkey and other natural pictures.

The main (and base) structure of Shahpura Ramdwara is a octagon shaped shiny marble pillar which is about 12 feet long. This pillar is situated at the cremation place of Ram Charan Maharaj. This pillar is called the Samadhi Stambh. The floor above the pillar is called Baradari (a kind of summer house with several open marble gates ). A rectangular stone is placed in the center ofBaradari which is just over the main pillar. The Baradari has 108 small pillars which make 84 open gates. At the place where Swami Ram Charan Ji Maharaj's body was cremated, a giant Ramdwara has been built. This is now the chief Ramdwara of Ramsnehi Sampradaya. This Ramdwara is also called Ram Niwas Dhaam or Ram Niwas Baikunth Dhaam.

The monks of RamSnehi Sampradaya are identical by their dressing code. After taking oaths, monks can not return back to their family and must treat the whole world as equally and fairly, without any prejudices. They promoted Bhakti in general, trying to eliminate conflicts between Saguna and Nirguna types. They are supposed to follow all the defined rules strictlyRamsnehis just do Darshan of the chair of current Acharya and respect all the monks and loving and chanting the name of lord "Rama" . There is famous fair called PHOOLDOL MELA  for 5 days after Holi by Ramdwara .

To facilitate medical aid & get rid of this problem of General masses of this region, Acharya Swami Ji Shree 1008 Shree Ram Dayal Ji Maharaj¬Peethadheeshwar Jagadguru of Ramsnehi Sampradaya in his 'Chaturmas' of 1998 declared to construct a well equipped Tertiary care Hospital in the vacant land of Ramdwara area for the welfare and treatment of sufferings and diseases of the people. This pious thought & determination of Acharya Shree as a bud fastly grew and today has taken the shape of a gigantic tree 'Vat-Vrikasha'Ramsnehi Chikitsalaya which is situated in the heart of textile city of Bhilwara, a Multispecialty hospital building in a large green campus with latest modem machines & equipments and other necessary facilities, rendering services of experienced well qualified & professionally trained medical Specialists.

Guru Gorakhnath founder of Nath sect.

Gorakshanath ,also known as Gorakhnath was an 11th to 12th century Hindu Nath yogi, connected to Shaivism as one of the two most important disciples of Matsyendranath, the other beingCaurangi.Of all the Masters through the ages, there is one acknowledged Master who has been referred to in the ancient scriptures, in legends and mystic tales, in passing mention by many renowned masters. Mentioned in the Puranas and other scriptures, he is known as Guru Gorakhnath.

The Nath Sampradaya, among many others, revere him as Shiva Goraksha. It is said that seeing Guru Gorakhnath in samadhi, Mata Parvati asked Lord Shiva about the yogi. Bhagwan Shankar or Lord Shiva stated that it was his own yogic manifestation. The Nine Naths and 84 Siddhas are aspects of Shiva himself, and legend suggests that they predate creation.

There are innumerable legends about Guru Gorakshnath, though there are no records of when he was born and where he hails from. He is mentioned with reference to Adi Shankaracharya who lived in the eighth century whereas some believe it to be anytime from 8th century to several centuries later. The Dabistan I Mazahib, the prophet Mohammad is reported as meeting him, Buddha (6th to 7th century), the kings Gopichand and Baratari (8th to 11th century) were disciples, Kabir Das (14th century) mentions Gorakshnath in the Kabir Granthvali and through all the ages. These are the legends where by his existence & references is found in all the ages i.e, Satyuga, TretaYuga,DwaparYuga and Kalyuga. The Nath tradition underwent its greatest expansion during the time of Gorakshanath. He produced a number of writings and even today is considered the greatest of the Naths. It has been purported that it was Gorakshanath who wrote the first books on Laya yoga. In India there are many caves, many with templs built over them, where it is said that Gorakshanath spent time in meditation. Gorakhnath is also a lineage bearer of Buddhist Tantra in Tibet.

Guru Gorakhnath said to be travelled from Nepal to Punjab and Rajasthan to Far south Srilanka.Gorakhnath is said to be the author of the Goraksha Paddhati ("Track of Goraksha" -- also called the Goraksha Samhita, a foundational treatise on esoteric Hatha Yoga.

A traditional story is told about the appearance of Gorakhnath. He was not born in the normal sense. A holy man named Matsyendranath used to go door-to-door to beg for food and, in exchange, offered blessings and wisdom. At one house, the woman asked if she would ever have a child. Matsyendranath gave her some holy ash and said if she swallowed it she would have a child. The woman told her neighbor who derided her naivete in believing such things, so she threw the ash away on a dung heap. Twelve years later, Matsyendranath returned and asked how the child was doing. The woman confessed what she had done with the ash. The holy man went to the dung heap and prayed, calling to the boy. A beautiful 12-year-old boy emerged. Matsyendranath took the boy with him. That boy was Gorakhnath.

Disaster Management .....

Disaster either completely disrupts the normal life or it  negatively influences the emergency systems Normal needs and processes like food, shelter, health, etc. are affected and deteriorate depending on the intensity. We tend to view disaster as an exceptional natural or technical event that interrupt “normal” development but in reality a wide variety of factors may increase the risk of a disaster.

When earthquake hit Gujarat on 26 January 2001and more than 20000 people died, we thought as a society we would learn to cope with disaster better. It seems that 20000 lives were not enough of a price to pay for shaking the bureaucracy and civil society to learn to cope with disasters with greater efficiency. Most disasters after the first 24 hours assume more or less typical characteristics in which the problems can be anticipated and response system can be put in place. One of the major problems in relief is that what is needed where is often not known to the people who want to provide support. The result is that lot of materials get wasted or misdirected. We need to put a spreadsheet immediately on the web pointing out village wise needs, contact person's names and addresses so that civil society efforts can be targeted more efficiently.

Finally, just would like to add that more emphasis in our country is on the rescue and relief operations and less on the preparedness to minimize the effect of a disaster.a big part of the northern India is in the seismic zone, prone to earthquake,Floods in Orrisa and Bihar are common and not to forget these bomb blasts !

Moonsons at my village

Fire in the Sky
When the dark monsoon clouds gather in the sky, it sometimes takes me back to the good and bad old days of monsoon in our village.we spend our days playing with paper boats in the rain-made streams. We use to see down over the fields and new born streams , peacock dancing ,sheeps crowded and standing together It is the village beauty in monsoon.

One compulsory daily activity was to seal the holes in tile roof. Since the first monsoon arrives soon after a hot summer, tile roofing gets little time to get accustomed to the change in climate and leaks badly. People used  a long stick  to poke the tiles and close the gap between the interconnected tiles, and in this process,They sometimes broke the tile and let rain come in like a water fall which is fun and frustration at the same time.

Monsoon evenings were magical. We sit simply looking out at the rain, sipping on a cup of hot Tea, while Vividh Bharti, the only radio station available in our place at that time, fills our ears with beautiful songs.Sometimes I and my sister splashed in puddles, got drenched in the rain and smelt the earth together with crispy fried goodies, heard the buzz in the air of happy sounds of laughter, shrieks of joy on spotting a rainbow in the sky still today we fall in love with rain.

Worrying thing about monsoon is that most nights are spent in total darkness. Trees have a soul-connection with power lines, and when they fall they take the power lines along with them. We often live without power for weeks. But when the crops of TIL and Cotton along with Pulses ripe we felt thanking the monsoon for the blessings he had on us that year and hope for the same every comming year.

Two 9/11 survivor says after 10 yrs .

{It's ten years since the world trade center attacks.Two foreigners caught in the tragedy tells their stories...}

Elizabeth Turner, Elizabeth was seven months pregnant when work took her husband from London to New york  for a business confrence
"Simon ,my husband of two years ,worked in publishing and in september2001 flew out with 16 colleagues for a confrence at the windows on the world restaurant on the 106th floor of World trade center's north tower",she says.
"At that time I was working in HR for British television channel 4.I was at the office canteen for lunch when I caught sight of the first plane hitting the tower on the news. Then the second tower was hit and everyone said it was a terrorist attack.
"I panicked and tried to ring Simon.I didn't get through. From that moment everything felt like an out of body experience.
"The pain of losing him was excruciating but I couldn't kill myself as I was  pregnant ."
Thankfully ,Elizabeth carried to full term and gave birth to baby William.

                                          = = =                 = = =
George Sleigh ,The British born naval architect was working on the 91st floor when the north tower was struck. Now 73 and retired ,he lives in Ohio.
"I was on the phone in my office when I heard the loud roar of a plane, which then hit the building about eight meters above my head. The ceiling began collapsing on top of me ,so I covered my head with my hands and prayed to god to save me.Although I was almost buried under debris,I was unhurt.I grabbed my briefcase and threw my address book into it .My wife,Elaine, had just moved offices and I couldn't remember her number.I left my office within minutes.

"There were three stairwells, two of which were blocked with rubble.I took the third.I wasn't scared and didn't   imagine the building would collapse. The stairwell was well lit and everyone was walking down calmly.I quietly joined them. The heat was incredible as I walk down ,there was smoke and I could smell kerosene.

"When I reached the 35 th floor everything went pitch black .I used my flashlight to navigate through dark. We reached  the 20th floor a female colleague said she would rest for a while .I tried to persuade her to come with us ,but she declined.A passing  fireman said he would look after her.Later I discovered that she didn't make it.At ground level ,I found that two of the four exits had been blocked by debris.I chose to go to the open one on the right ,six of the group went to the left .I learnt later that they had died.

"As I left the tower I heard screams and noises.People were jumping from the windows of the tower.Only firefighters were heading into the tower else everyone were taking the way out . I was dazed and covered with dust and blood .I lost all concepts of time.

Since 9/11 I no longer easily trust people .I worry about anyone carrying a bag in public transport and I still wonder what I could have done to prevent my colleagues from talking the wrong exit and how I could have prevented .

See Any Girl Out Here?

Krishna Kunwar lives in fear, she is scared her food may be poisined she is afraid to sleep at night she suspect her parents will kill her.
Female infanticide of the past refined and honed to a fine skill in this modern guise. There are several reasons why Indians favor boys. Traditionally; the son and heir is the focus of an Indian family's pride, and the cost of a dowry for daughters which can include a house for the newlyweds and cars, holidays and any number of TVs, DVD players and electric rice-cookers for the groom's family can be excruciating.  Noted in The Lancet that because of the cost of dowry and weddings, daughters in India were a "liability."Also, there's a simple economic imperative: in what is still a fairly male-dominated society, boys earn more.

In the global scenario India is becoming a force to reckon with and we are very proud of this fact. But there are some home truths that we are unaware of or are turning a deaf year to them, female infanticide is one .Female infanticide is a deliberate and intentional act of killing a female child within one year of its birth either directly by using poisonous organic and inorganic chemicals or indirectly by deliberate neglect to feed the infant by either one of the parents or other family members. On the other hand female feticide is the termination of the life of a foetus within the womb on the grounds that its sex is female and is also known as sex selective abortion.

A 2005 study estimated that over 90 million females were "missing" from the expected population in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, India, Pakistan, South Korea and Taiwan alone, and suggested that sex-selective abortion plays a role in this deficit.out of the 15,914 abortions performed during 1984-85 almost 100 per cent were those of girl fetuses. Similarly, a survey report of women’s centre in Mumbai found that out of 8,000 fetuses aborted in six city hospitals 7,999 fetuses were of girls. It has also been reported that about 4,000 female babies are aborted in Tamil Nadu every year. India's 2011 census shows a serious decline in the number of girls under the age of seven - activists fear eight million female fetuses may have been aborted between 2001 and 2011.

According to unofficial estimates, nearly 2500 cases of female foeticide or female infanticide take place in the state of Rajasthan everyday and it does seem that an apathetic government is standing by and watching the story of this silent genocide. Jaisalmer district has a sharply skewed sex ratio of 869 girls per 1000 boys. It is a belt notorious for killing its daughters. Yet in the history of the district, an FIR was only lodged for the first time in April this year(2011), while the government continues to look the other way as this mass murder on a scale unseen in any other district in the country continues.

An image that stood out in the crowd was the participation of a number of traditional  women in the protest, who made a rare appearance without their husbands to fearlessly raise banners against female infanticide, and made their voices heard from under their veil. Krishna Kanwar, wrapped in a traditional red ghaghra and veil, was one of them. “I was forced to kill my girl child a few years ago, and it was time I came out to protest against this crime that many others like me are forced to commit everyday,” she says with quiet strength, clutching her five-year-old son close to her. Is there finally a whiff of change, and can Krishna sleep peacefully at night?

The Thick Blood .

Throughout the
various gradations of its nobility, it was the original policy to
introduce some who were foreign in country and blood. Chiefs of
the Rathor, Chauhan, Pramara, Solanki, and Bhatti tribes were
intermingled. Of these several were lineal descendants of the
most ancient races of the kings of Delhi and Anhilwara Patan ;
and from these, in order to preserve the purity of blood, the
princes of Mewar took their wives, when the other princes of
Hind assented to the degradation of giving daughters in
marriage to the emperors of Delhi. The princes of Mewar never
yielded in this point, but preserved their ancient manners amidst
all vicissitudes. In like manner did the nobles of the Rana's
blood take daughters from the same tribes ; the interest of this
foreign race was therefore strongly identified with the general
welfare, and on all occasions of internal turmoil and rebellion
they invariably supported their prince. But when these wise
institutions were overlooked, when the great clans increased
and congregated together, and the crown demesne was impover-
ished by prodigality, rebellions were fostered by Mahratta
rapacity, which were little known during the lengthened para-
mount sway of the kings of Delhi. This foreign admixture
will lead us to the discussion of the different kinds of grants :
a difference, perhaps, more nominal than real, but exhibiting a
distinction so wide as to imply grants resumable and irresum-
able.

Kala Pattas.- It is elsewhere related that two great clans,
descendants of the Ranas Rae Mall and Udai Singh, and their
numerous scions, forming subdivisions with separate titles or
patronymics, compose the chief vassalage of this country.

Exogamy. — Chondawat and Saktawat are the stock ; the
former is subdivided into ten, the latter into about six clans.
Rajputs never intermarry with their own kin : the prohibition
has no limit ; it extends to the remotest degree. All these clans
are resolvable into the generic term of ' the race ' or Kula Sesodia.
A Sesodia man and woman cannot unite in wedlock — all these
are therefore of the blood royal ; and the essayists on population
would have had a fine field in these quarters a century ago, ere
constant misery had thinned the coimtry, to trace the numerous
